I am working on PsGet (, helper to install modules easy. Example of the end result is something like:

install-module posh-git

This will install posh-git module: dowload posh-git, unpack, execute installation script if any and import to your current session.

One of the most requested modules that are not in PsGet directory is PowerTab. Main problem is that CodePlex does not provide direct dowload link, means that I cannot just add PowerTab to directory and get it work with PsGet.

So there are few options.

1. May be somebody know how to get direct dowload link.
2. Put copies of releases somewhere with direct links (I can do this, I can put zip file just into psget repository).

What do you think?

PS> install-module PowerTab

Yes, I plan to publish PowerTab to NuGet or some NuGet based system.  I am really excited about the idea.  I am close to finishing a stable release of PowerTab Soon(tm).  That would be the first version that I would put up outside of codeplex.  If you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to post them.

As to hosting the download on CodePlex, have you tried using this link?

Well, this PsGet is not NuGet based. It does not host modules. It only hosts infromation how and where to dowload module.  The problem with this link codeplex provides is that it requires accept license box and I cannot show this dialog box from powershell script. This is why I am looking for options how to get direct link to file.

Just to be fair, there are few options for you where you can publish with NuGet:

  1. Main NuGet feed, instruction -
  2. Chocolatey , they use it's own nugetfeed.
  3. Ps-Get , also own nuget feed hosted on

However, I am working on PsGet, and really want powertab here :). May be I can take compiled powertab and put it in psget repo? I will keep it up to date. So just need your approval.

P.S. I tried to fool CodePlex, to get direct dowload link, but seems CodePlex guys thinks this a feature not to allow direct dowloads(I can understand this, stats and so on). This why, even if I will fool CodePlex, this will be against rules.
